Kids Share Workshops, Inc. (“KSWI”) a Vermont nonprofit corporation that provides cross-cultural workshops at schools, community centers or after school programs to students in Vermont and other cultures. We conduct our annual Kids Share Bookmaking Workshop in one or two classrooms in Vermont, and a matching Workshop in another country.

Kids Share Internet Cafe & Community Learning Center

KSWI's current goal is to open its first Kids Share Internet Cafe and Community Learning Center in San Ramon, Nicaragua. Student and adult volunteers will help us connect Vermont's and Nicaraguan's cultures through creative teaching. Children and adults from rural communities can visit the Center and have a safe place in which to learn valuable skills, creativity, English language, sell fair trade coffee and local crafts, and connect with others through international classroom Skype gatherings. (Please see details of how you can help at: Support Kids Share Learning Centers.)

Please help us reach this goal for 2011!

Thank you!

Books

Through the creation and publishing of Kids Share Global Books we hope to raise awareness of other cultures, issues in America concerning children and each child's own environment. Our Book Making Workshop guides students to write about themselves, their communities, and to illustrate their narratives. At the end of the annual Workshop we print a beautiful, full-color book containing the students’ cross-cultural illustrated works. These books, with their “kids-eye” views of differing cultures, are featured in Montpelier’s Kellogg-Hubbard Library and other libraries throughout Vermont. We also sell them to raise funds to support the Workshops and the communities we touch.

(Please support our Book Making Workshops by donating towards a free Kids Share Book for each child who co-creates with us. You can also donate towards art supplies, writing material, pay for an artist in residence to share their craft and co-created superhero posters!)
