Falcon Ranger
Learn about Vermont kids at Thatcher Brook Primary School through their narratives & artwork.
I am Falcon Ranger. I was created by children, ages 8 and 9, in Mr. Costello's 3rd and 4th grade class at Thatcher Brook Primary School in Waterbury, Vermont, USA. I live in the nearby wilderness surrounding Camel's Hump Mountain, among deer, moose, beaver, and many other animals. I love to fly, and I can go wherever I wish. I use my keen vision, insight, and the power of my awesome wings to bring peace and good will to children everywhere. My friend Speed Demon and I have just returned from an enlightening journey to the Tibetan SOS Children's Village (TCV) in Bylakuppe, India. We enjoyed visiting the Great Tibetan Snow Lion to share stories and artwork from kids in Vermont with the Tibetan children. And we were honored to return home with stories and artwork that they gave to us. I hope the kids' many views of the world will enlighten and amuse you.

Please see Sound-slide Show created from 6 days in Mr. Costello's 3-4 class. The following are excerpts from Mr. Costello's 3-4 class School Blog Tuesday, November 11 How would you describe a celebration to someone from another culture? That is the question we have been working on for the past three days. With the help of Portraits for Charity, we have been trying to write a few paragraphs explaining Thanksgiving, the Fourth of July, Birthdays, and New Year's Eve. Posted by Mr. Costello Wednesday, November 12 Today was the last day of our book project. The students worked hard making pictures to go along with their stories. Today we used the paper we created yesterday to add color to our drawings from Monday. This was a wonderful project and I am looking forward to seeing what the final product looks like. Posted by Mr. Costello Wednesday, November 5 - the beginning Starting next week we will be working with Portraits for Charity to create a global story book. For information go here: Kids Sharing Global Narrative. I met with the members of the team on Monday and we decided we are going to use the theme of celebrations to form our part of the book. For more information and a sound-slide show of how this started and what it might look like go here: Portraits for Charity I feel honored to be part of this project. We will be using class time from 9:00-10:00 for the next two weeks to create this book. The workshops will be photographed and some of the students words and description will be used from these workshop in other settings. Peace Posted by Mr. Costello |
